World-renowned expressionist building "Het Schip" ("the ship") is the most famous work by Amsterdam School architect Michel de Klerk, which was completed in 1921. The museum located in the building is dedicated to the Amsterdam School, an architecture style. The former post office designed by the architect can be visited as well as the period appartment that is furnished as it was common in the twenties. In addition, the museum has a garden where Amsterdam School street furniture is exhibited.

Museum Het Schip in Amsterdam offers visitors an insightful look into the Amsterdam School architectural style and social housing of the early 20th century. The museum is housed in a former workers' housing complex, which itself is a prime example of the Amsterdam School design. Visitors appreciate the well-preserved architecture and the opportunity to explore a fully furnished workers' apartment from the 1920s, providing a glimpse into the living conditions of that era. The museum's exhibits effectively explain the history and significance of the Amsterdam School movement, its connection to socialist ideals, and its impact on Dutch architecture and design. Many reviewers highlight the knowledgeable guides and informative audio tours available in multiple languages. The museum's compact size allows for a comprehensive visit without being overwhelming. Some visitors note that while the museum is excellent for those interested in architecture and design history, it may be less engaging for general tourists or children. A few reviewers mention that the museum can be a bit difficult to find, as it's located in a residential area away from the city center. Overall, Museum Het Schip is highly regarded by architecture enthusiasts and those interested in Dutch social history, offering a unique perspective on an important period in Amsterdam's development.
