McLean is a small town located in Gray County, Texas, along the historic Route 66. Founded in the early 1900s, the town was named after William P. McLean, a Texas state legislator and judge.

McLean was once a significant stop along America's "Mother Road" and played a role in the development of the Texas Panhandle region. The town preserves part of its Route 66 heritage through the Devils Rope Museum, which showcases the history of barbed wire and Route 66 memorabilia. While the population has decreased since its peak in the mid-20th century, McLean maintains its small-town character and serves as a reminder of the American roadside culture that flourished during the heyday of Route 66.
