    Vandaag heb ik in het Jan Cunen Museum in Oss kennis gemaakt met de sprookjeswereld van de Heerlense fotografe Marie Cécile Thijs. Hoewel ze zelfs al in de collectie van het Rijksmuseum zit, moet ik bekennen dat ik haar nog niet kende, maar de kennismaking is goed bevallen. Dat komt mede doordat haar kleurenspectrum refereert aan het kleurgebruik uit de Gouden Eeuw. Aangezien Rembrandt een van mijn meest favoriete schilders is, is het niet gek dat het rembrandteske kleurgebruik mij zo aanspreekt. Bovendien schept Thijs een sprookjeswereld waarin je je kunt verliezen en de waan van de dag even achter je kunt laten. Gevoel voor humor kan haar ook niet ontzegd worden. Katten met zestiende-eeuwse molensteenkragen en eenhoorns die opeens tot leven komen. Niet Alice maar Marie Cécile in wonderland zou je kunnen zeggen. Zo zie je maar hoe verrassend de kleinere musea soms kunnen zijn. Deze sprookjeswereld in het Jan Cunen is nog tot 20 januari te zien.
