Sierra Blanca is a small unincorporated community located in Hudspeth County, Texas. Situated in the western part of Texas, approximately 85 miles southeast of El Paso, the town serves as the county seat of Hudspeth County.
The community's name, which means "White Mountain" in Spanish, refers to the nearby Sierra Blanca Mountain. The town developed in the late 19th century as a water stop for the Southern Pacific Railroad and has maintained its connection to transportation routes, being situated near the intersection of Interstate 10 and U.S. Highway 80.
While Sierra Blanca is a modest-sized community, it has played a role in the region's transportation history and continues to serve as an administrative center for the county.
