Waddesdon is a village in Buckinghamshire, England, best known for the magnificent Waddesdon Manor, a 19th-century country house built in the Neo-Renaissance style of a French château.
The manor was built between 1874 and 1889 for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to display his outstanding collection of arts and to entertain the fashionable world. The village itself has a rich history dating back to the Domesday Book of 1086. Today, Waddesdon maintains its historic character while the manor, now managed by the National Trust, serves as a major cultural attraction, housing exceptional collections of French decorative arts, English portraits, and Dutch Old Masters. The surrounding area features beautiful landscaped gardens and grounds that reflect the grandeur of European garden design.
