Peenemünde is a municipality located on the Baltic Sea island of Usedom in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The town is primarily known for its significant historical role during World War II as the location of the Peenemünde Army Research Center, where the V-1 flying bomb and V-2 rocket were developed.

Today, this former military testing facility has been transformed into the Historical Technical Museum Peenemünde, which documents the complex history of rocket development and its consequences. The museum is housed in the former power station, an impressive example of industrial architecture from the 1940s.

Beyond its military history, Peenemünde is situated in a scenic coastal area, offering views of the Baltic Sea and the Peene River estuary. The region's cultural heritage is closely tied to its maritime traditions and its role in technological developments of the 20th century.
