Leiden is a city in the Dutch province of South Holland. Leiden is nicknamed "The Key City" which refers to the city's coat of arms. The city is home to the oldest university in the Netherlands and has the oldest theater in the Netherlands. In addition, the city is characterized by its rich history and the old city center with canals, monumental buildings and courtyards. The Singel pattern, Leiden's outer ring of canals, is still completely intact.

In addition to the rich history in itself, Leiden also has a lively student life and partly because of this, a wide cultural offer. Restaurants and entertainment venues alternate in the city center. Some famous (monumental) buildings are the Waag, the Hooglandsekerk, the Pieterskerk and the Hartebrugkerk.
