La Ferté-Milon is a commune located in the Aisne department in northern France, in the historic region of Picardy. The town is notable for its imposing medieval castle ruins, which dominate the landscape from their position on a hill overlooking the Ourcq River.
Built in the late 14th century by Louis I, Duke of Orléans, the castle remains one of the most significant historical landmarks in the area. The town is also known as the birthplace of Jean Racine, one of France's greatest classical dramatists, who was born here in 1639.
