Faxe is a town located in the Region Zealand of Denmark, known for its industrial and geological heritage. The town's history is closely tied to the Faxe Limestone Quarry, which has been in operation since the Middle Ages and remains one of Denmark's most significant geological sites.
The limestone quarry, which is now also home to the Geomuseum Faxe, contains numerous fossils and tells the story of Denmark's geological past from approximately 63 million years ago.
