Cherasco is a historic town located in the province of Cuneo, in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Founded in 1243, the town is known for its distinctive orthogonal urban layout with two main intersecting streets forming the heart of the historic center. Cherasco has maintained much of its medieval and baroque architecture, with numerous palaces and churches dotting its streets. The town is particularly noted for its cultural heritage, including significant baroque buildings and ancient city walls.
It has played an important role in Italian history, being the site of multiple peace treaties, including the Armistice of Cherasco signed by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1796. Today, Cherasco is also known for its local culinary traditions, particularly its chocolate-making heritage and the production of Bagna càuda, a typical Piedmontese dish.
