Barolo is a small commune located in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, situated in the renowned Langhe wine-producing area. The town, with its medieval architecture and hilltop castle, is internationally recognized as the namesake of one of Italy's most prestigious wines, Barolo, made from the Nebbiolo grape variety.
The historic Castello Falletti di Barolo, dating back to the 10th century, now houses the Regional Enoteca of Barolo and the Wine Museum (WiMu), which explores the cultural and social history of wine. The surrounding landscape, characterized by rolling hills covered with meticulously maintained vineyards, has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site as part of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato wine regions.
The town maintains its agricultural heritage while serving as an important center for wine tourism and cultural education.
