Burfordville is a small unincorporated community located in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. The community is primarily known for being home to the historic Burfordville Covered Bridge and the Bollinger Mill State Historic Site.
Built in 1858, the Burfordville Covered Bridge is one of only four remaining covered bridges in Missouri and spans the Whitewater River. The bridge, along with the adjacent Bollinger Mill, represents an important piece of 19th-century Missouri history and architecture. The mill, originally constructed in the early 1800s and rebuilt after the Civil War, once served as a vital center for the local agricultural community, where farmers would bring their grain to be ground into flour.
