Anholt is a small Danish island located in the Kattegat sea between Denmark and Sweden. The island, which belongs to the municipality of Norddjurs, covers an area of approximately 22 square kilometers and is known for its unique natural landscape that includes one of Northern Europe's largest deserts, known as Ørkenen (The Desert).

The island's cultural heritage is closely tied to its maritime history, with its lighthouse being one of the most important landmarks. Dating back to 1560, the current lighthouse structure from 1881 represents the island's historical significance in maritime navigation. Despite its small permanent population of around 150 people, Anholt maintains a distinct cultural identity shaped by its isolation and close connection to the sea. The island's main settlement, Anholt By, preserves traditional Danish island architecture and customs, while also serving as a popular summer destination for tourists interested in its natural and cultural heritage.
