The Taxandria Museum is housed in a 16th-century museum building, the House metten thoren. The museum is dedicated to the past of Turnhout. The permanent exhibition is called "Hotel Taxandria. The 'hotel guests' are archetypal figures with their own story about the history of Turnhout and the Antwerp Kempen. In each room, a different guest tells his or her story with anecdotes and objects from the art collection. The museum thus resembles the setting of a historical play in which the visitor walks around.
