The Small Basilica in Plodiv, also called The Small Basilica of Philippopolis was an early Christian church. The ruins of the church were found during construction works in 1988. It was a three nave basilica that was built in the second half of the 5th century AD and contained rich architectural decorations, making it a fine example of the skill of mosaic builders in ancient Philippopolis.

The Small Basilica in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, is an important archaeological site that offers visitors a glimpse into the city's rich history. This well-preserved 5th-century church features impressive mosaic floors, which are the main highlight for many visitors. The restoration work has been done thoughtfully, allowing guests to appreciate the original architecture and artwork.

While the site is relatively small, it provides an informative experience with detailed explanations and information boards in both Bulgarian and English. The entrance fee is considered reasonable by most visitors, making it an accessible attraction.

Some visitors note that the museum could benefit from more extensive exhibits or additional historical context. However, the site's compact nature allows for a quick yet meaningful visit, which can be ideal for those with limited time in Plovdiv.

The staff is generally described as friendly and knowledgeable, though some visitors mention that guided tours are not always available. The location of the basilica, within walking distance of other Plovdiv attractions, is convenient for tourists exploring the city.

Overall, the Small Basilica is a valuable stop for history enthusiasts and those interested in early Christian architecture. While it may not occupy visitors for an extended period, it offers a concentrated dose of Plovdiv's ancient past and is often recommended as part of a broader exploration of the city's historical sites.
