Norddeich Radio, also known by its former call signs KND, KAV, DAF, was a coastal radio station that facilitated international communication with German ships. Established in 1907, the station was located in Norddeich, North Germany, and played a significant role in maritime communication for nearly a century.

Technical Capabilities of Norddeich Radio

Norddeich Radio began its operations in 1907 with a Telefunken spark-gap transmitter and an antenna suspended from four 65-meter-high masts. Known as Funkentelegraphenstation Norddeich, the station was capable of bridging distances of more than 1500 km at a frequency of 150 kHz in its early days.

Establishment of Museum Norddeich Radio

In 2011, a group of former employees and radio enthusiasts established the 'Museum Norddeich Radio e. V'. They rented a culturally protected house in Norden and transformed it into a museum. The Museum Norddeich Radio is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history of Norddeich Radio.
