The Museo Piemontese dell'Informatica, abbreviated as MuPIn, is a museum located in Turin that is dedicated to information technology. It is managed by a non-profit association committed to the preservation, restoration, enhancement, and dissemination of the IT heritage. The museum was born out of the initiative of a group of enthusiasts and professionals in the field.
In 2018, the Museo Piemontese dell'Informatica was given a new location by the City of Turin. This new location is next to the Museum of the Fantastic and Science Fiction, creating a museum hub in the north area of Turin. The museum hub includes shared spaces such as the lobby, ticket office, offices, workshops, exhibition spaces, library, refreshment area, video/conference room, and organizes common activities such as exhibitions, reviews, conferences, book presentations with authors, screenings, and workshops.
The collection of the Museo Piemontese dell'Informatica consists of various sections and spans from the dawn of computing to recent times, showcasing the evolution of information technology. As of 2024, the museum boasts an archive of over 6000 computers of all categories, including mainframes, mini computers, personal computers, home computers, coin-ops, and consoles.
