Mothsgården

The Rudersdal Museer in Rudersdal Kommune is a state-recognized local history museum. It is composed of three departments: Mothsgården, which was formerly known as the Søllerød Museum, the Historical Archive, and the Vedbæk Finds at Gammel Holtegaard. These three departments work together to provide a comprehensive view of the local history and culture.

Historical Significance of Mothsgården

Mothsgården, located at Søllerødvej 25, is a significant part of the Rudersdal Museer. It was built around 1680 by Interior Minister Matthias Moth in the heart of the original Søllerød. Over the years, the farm has been visited by several major cultural personalities, adding to its historical significance.

Mothsgården as an Exhibition Site

In 2014, the administration of the museum moved to Nærum, and the main building of Mothsgården was repurposed for exhibition. Today, the entire Mothsgården serves as an exhibition site, showcasing the recent cultural history of the region. This makes it a significant destination for those interested in understanding the local culture and history.
