MIAT (Museum about industry, labour and textile) illustrates the evolution of industrial society from 1750 to now. Periods covered are: the first Industrial Revolution, the rise of the machine, the evolution of the consumption and information society, the evolving technology and everyday life. Special attention is given to textiles, for a long time the most important industry in Flanders. The role of women and 'child labor' in industrial society are also discussed.
