The Historical Military Museum of the Canary Islands is situated within the Almeyda Fort in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. The museum was first opened to the public in 1988, initially named the Regional Military Museum of the Canary Islands. Today, it is known as the Historical Military Museum of the Canary Islands.
The museum boasts an exhibition area of over 900 square meters, which serves as a tangible representation of the Military History of the Canary Islands. The upper floor of the museum offers a chronological journey through the military history of the Canary Islands, providing context with the events of its surroundings.
Among its collections, the museum features the "Hercules" cannon, a serpentine cannon cast in Flanders in the 16th century that protected the coasts of Tenerife until the 19th century. Additionally, the museum houses two English flags that were won in combat against forces that attempted to land in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on July 25, 1797.
