The Bibelgalerie Meersburg is a unique Bible museum situated in the former Dominican convent in the upper town of Meersburg on Lake Constance. This historical location adds to the charm and appeal of the museum. However, it's important to note that the museum is closed during the winter months, so planning a visit outside of this period would be advisable.
Opened in June 1988, the Bibelgalerie was the first of its kind in Germany, offering a unique biblical experience rather than just imparting knowledge. This pioneering role has made it a significant cultural landmark. The main entrance to the museum is located at Stadtgraben / corner Kunkelgasse, making it easily accessible for visitors.
In 2008, the exhibition at the Bibelgalerie was redesigned and expanded, offering a more immersive and interactive experience. Visitors can engage with the Bible in a tangible way, such as writing in a monastic scriptorium, printing with a printing press, listening to stories in a Bedouin tent, and experiencing the scents of the Song of Songs. This unique approach to presenting the Bible makes the museum a fascinating place to visit.
