Withernsea is a seaside resort town and civil parish located on the North Sea coast in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The town developed as a Victorian seaside resort in the 19th century when the Hull and Holderness Railway made it accessible to visitors.
One of its most notable landmarks is the white lighthouse, built in 1894, which is unusually positioned inland and now serves as a museum dedicated to film star Kay Kendall, who was born in the town. The town maintains its traditional seaside character with its promenade, beach, and pier towers (though the original pier was destroyed by a ship collision in 1893). The local economy is primarily based on tourism, fishing, and agricultural activities in the surrounding Holderness area.
