Waitsburg is a small city located in Walla Walla County, in the southeastern part of Washington state. Founded in 1865, the city was named after Sylvester M. Wait, who established a mill in the area. This historic town, situated along the Touchet River, retains much of its 19th-century character with well-preserved buildings from its early days.
The community has a rich agricultural heritage, being situated in the fertile Walla Walla Valley known for its wheat farming and, more recently, vineyards. While small in size, Waitsburg maintains a distinct cultural identity, blending its historical roots with contemporary arts and cultural activities. The downtown area features historic architecture and buildings that reflect the city's development during the territorial period of Washington state.
