Valréas is a commune situated in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southeastern France. The town has a rich historical heritage dating back to medieval times and was notably an enclave of papal territory known as the Enclave des Papes.
During the 19th century, Valréas developed a significant industrial heritage, particularly in the production of cartonnage (cardboard boxes), which became a major economic activity for the region. The town's architectural heritage includes the 13th-century Church of Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth and remnants of medieval fortifications.
Today, Valréas maintains its historical character while serving as a cultural center in the northern Vaucluse area, surrounded by landscapes typical of Provence with vineyards and lavender fields.
