Val Jalbert is a historic ghost town located in Quebec's Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, Canada. Founded in 1901 as a company town centered around a pulp mill, Val Jalbert was once a thriving industrial community. The town features remarkably well-preserved period architecture from the 1920s, including original houses, public buildings, and industrial structures. The site is particularly notable for its location near the impressive Ouiatchouan Falls, which were once used to power the mill.
While the town was abandoned in 1927 following the closure of the pulp mill, it has since been transformed into an open-air museum that preserves and showcases Quebec's industrial heritage. The site now serves as a cultural landmark that offers visitors insight into early 20th-century life in a Quebec industrial town.
