Art museums in Udine

Originally, the museum was housed in the basement of the city's archbishop's seminary. However, even before the earthquake in 1976, the process of moving the museum to the Patriarchal Palace had begun. This palace was the former residence of the patriarchs of Aquileia and, from 1751, of the archbishops of Udine. The building is considered one of the main monuments in the city of Udine.

Established in 1865 and opened to the public a year later at the Bartolini Palace, the Civic Museums and Galleries of History and Art of Udine have a long-standing history. This history is reflected in the vast collection of artifacts and artworks that they house.

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Udine, Italy, is located within the historic Casa Cavazzini. This 16th-century building has undergone extensive restoration to become a modern museum space. The restoration process was initially led by renowned architect Gae Aulenti, who later left the project due to a dispute with the city of Udine.
