Tutzing is a municipality located on the western shore of Lake Starnberg in the German state of Bavaria, approximately 40 kilometers southwest of Munich. The town has a rich cultural heritage and is particularly known for its connection to music and the arts.
Since 1947, it has been home to the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing, an important Protestant educational institution that hosts various cultural and social events. The town gained prominence in the 19th century as a retreat for artists, musicians, and writers, with notable visitors including Johannes Brahms, who composed parts of his German Requiem here. The historical Tutzing Castle, dating back to the 15th century, adds to the town's architectural and cultural landscape.
Today, Tutzing continues to maintain its reputation as a cultural center while serving as a popular residential area and tourist destination in the Five-Lakes Region of Upper Bavaria.
