Træna is a remote municipality and archipelago located in Nordland county, off the coast of northern Norway. This small island community consists of over 1,000 small islands and skerries, with only four of them being permanently inhabited.
Despite its small population of around 450 people, Træna has a rich cultural heritage dating back to the Stone Age, with archaeological findings suggesting human settlement as far back as 9,000 years ago. The municipality is known for its distinctive landscape featuring dramatic rock formations, including the iconic Trænstaven, a natural rock pillar rising from the sea.
Today, Træna maintains its fishing traditions while also embracing contemporary culture, notably through its annual Træna Festival, a unique music festival that takes place in July, featuring performances in unusual venues including a natural cave amphitheater.
