Traben-Trarbach is a historic wine-growing town located along the Middle Moselle river in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany. Originally two separate villages, Traben and Trarbach merged in 1904.
The town is known for its remarkable Art Nouveau architecture, a legacy of its prosperity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries when it was the second-largest wine trading center in Europe after Bordeaux. Many of these buildings were designed by Bruno Möhring, including the distinctive Bridge Gate House.
The town's cultural heritage is deeply connected to its wine-making tradition, with numerous historic wine cellars carved into the slate rock beneath the town. These underground spaces now serve various cultural purposes, including museum exhibitions. The surrounding landscape is characterized by steep vineyard-covered slopes, typical of the Moselle wine region.
