Tinchebray-Bocage is a commune in the Orne department in Normandy in northwestern France. The town was formed on 1 January 2015 through the merger of several smaller communes, including the historic town of Tinchebray.
The area has a rich medieval history, notably as the site of the Battle of Tinchebray in 1106 between Henry I of England and his brother Robert Curthose, Duke of Normandy. Historically, the region was known for its metallurgy and hardware manufacturing, particularly the production of tools and implements. Today, Tinchebray-Bocage maintains its rural character while preserving elements of its industrial heritage.
The commune's cultural identity is deeply rooted in its Norman heritage, with several historic buildings and local traditions that reflect its long history.
