St. Ignatius is a small town located in Lake County, Montana, situated in the Mission Valley on the Flathead Indian Reservation. The town was established in 1854 by Jesuit missionaries and named after Saint Ignatius of Loyola.
The community is known for its historic St. Ignatius Mission, built between 1891 and 1893, which features remarkable frescoes painted by Brother Joseph Carignano. The mission church represents an important piece of Native American and Catholic missionary history in the region.
