Rodmell is a historic village in East Sussex, situated in the South Downs National Park, approximately 3 miles south of Lewes.
The village is perhaps best known for its connection to the Bloomsbury Group, particularly through Monk's House, the 17th-century weatherboarded cottage that was the home of writer Virginia Woolf and her husband Leonard from 1919 until Virginia's death in 1941. The village maintains its rural character with traditional flint buildings, a medieval parish church dedicated to St. Peter, and scenic views of the surrounding chalk downland. Agriculture has historically been important to the local economy, and the village continues to be surrounded by working farmland.
The area offers visitors opportunities to explore both its literary heritage and the natural beauty of the South Downs.
