Redding is a historic town located in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Founded in 1767, it is characterized by its rural charm and preservation of natural landscapes. The town has maintained much of its historic character with colonial-era buildings and stone walls marking property boundaries that date back centuries.
Redding has notable cultural significance as the home of Mark Twain in his final years, where he built his last house, "Stormfield." The town was also the site of a Revolutionary War winter encampment under General Israel Putnam, whose remains are now preserved as Putnam Memorial State Park.
Today, Redding continues to value its cultural heritage while maintaining extensive conservation areas and nature preserves that reflect its commitment to preserving both its historical and natural resources.
