Powder Springs is a city located in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The city got its name from the seven springs in the area that produce water containing minerals that turn black like gunpowder when the water touches the ground.

Originally inhabited by Creek and Cherokee Native Americans, the area was first settled by Europeans in the 1820s and was incorporated as Springville in 1838 before being renamed to Powder Springs in 1859. The city has preserved some of its historical heritage, including the Seven Springs Museum and sites related to its railroad history.

Today, Powder Springs combines its historical small-town charm with modern suburban development, featuring parks, cultural facilities, and recreational areas that serve its growing community.
