Montmorency is a commune in the Val-d'Oise department in the northern suburbs of Paris, France. Located approximately 15 kilometers from the capital, this historic town is known for its rich cultural heritage and connection to French history.
The town takes its name from the prestigious Montmorency family, one of the oldest and most distinguished noble houses of France. In the 18th century, the philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau found refuge here, where he wrote some of his most important works.
The town retains much of its historical character through its architecture, including medieval buildings and the Collégiale Saint-Martin, a significant religious monument. Today, Montmorency combines its historical legacy with modern suburban life, while maintaining strong cultural traditions through various local institutions and cultural events.
