McGill is a small unincorporated community located in White Pine County, Nevada, United States. The town was established in the early 1900s as a company town for the Nevada Consolidated Copper Company, which operated a large copper smelter in the area. During its peak, McGill was a thriving industrial community centered around copper processing operations.
While the smelter ceased operations in 1983, the town retains its historical significance as part of Nevada's mining heritage. Today, McGill is a quiet residential community that preserves elements of its industrial past, including several historic buildings that reflect its copper mining era. The surrounding area features typical Great Basin desert landscape with expansive valleys and mountain ranges characteristic of eastern Nevada.
