Marsberg is a town located in the eastern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, situated in the Hochsauerlandkreis district. The town has medieval origins and was historically known as Horhusen or Stadtberge. The modern town was formed in 1975 through the merger of several smaller communities.
The area is characterized by its position in the Diemel valley and the surrounding uplands of the Sauerland region. Marsberg has preserved some of its historical architecture, including parts of its old town walls and religious buildings.
The town has cultural significance due to its connection to Saint Magnus, an 8th-century missionary who is said to have Christianized the region. While not a major tourist destination, Marsberg maintains several historical sites and cultural institutions that reflect its long history and development from a medieval settlement to a modern German town.
