Lichtenstein/Sachsen is a town located in the district of Zwickau in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. The town, which should not be confused with the country of Liechtenstein, has a rich industrial heritage dating back to the textile manufacturing era of the 19th century.
One of its notable landmarks is the neo-Gothic Lichtenstein Castle (Schloss Lichtenstein), built in the 1840s, which sits atop a hill overlooking the town. The castle has served various purposes throughout its history and reflects the architectural styles popular during Saxony's industrial development period. The surrounding area features typical Saxon landscapes with rolling hills and forests, characteristic of the transition between the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) foothills and the Saxon lowlands. The town maintains its historical character while functioning as a modern community within the greater Zwickau region.
