Kirkoswald is a historic village situated in South Ayrshire, Scotland, with deep connections to Scottish poet Robert Burns. The village takes its name from Saint Oswald, with 'Kirk' being the Scottish word for church. The area is known for its medieval heritage, particularly the ruins of Crossraguel Abbey, a former Cluniac monastery founded in the 13th century.

Burns attended school here in 1775 to study surveying and mathematics, and several characters from his poems were inspired by local residents. The village maintains much of its traditional Scottish character, with historic buildings and structures that reflect its rich past. The surrounding countryside is characterized by rolling hills and farmland typical of the Ayrshire region.
