Hope is a small municipality located in the Fraser Valley Regional District of British Columbia, Canada. Situated at the confluence of the Fraser and Coquihalla rivers, the town serves as a gateway to British Columbia's interior.
Originally established during the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush in the 1850s, Hope has evolved from a mining town into a community known for its natural surroundings and outdoor recreational opportunities. The town has gained recognition for its chainsaw wood carvings displayed throughout the community, which have become an integral part of its cultural identity. Hope also has a rich First Nations heritage, with the area being traditional territory of the Chawathil First Nation and other Stó:lō peoples.
The town gained additional fame as a filming location for the first Rambo movie, "First Blood," and maintains a small but active arts community that celebrates both its historical heritage and contemporary culture.
