Hino is a city located in the western part of Tokyo Metropolis, Japan. Established as a city in 1963, it developed significantly around the automotive industry, being home to the headquarters of Hino Motors, a major manufacturer of commercial vehicles and diesel engines. The city combines urban development with natural surroundings, featuring the Tama River along its southern border and several parks scattered throughout the area.

Historically, the area was an important post town during the Edo period, situated along the Kōshū Kaidō, one of the five centrally administered roads of the era. Today, Hino maintains its industrial heritage while offering cultural facilities and educational institutions, including the Hino City Folk Museum which preserves local history and cultural artifacts.
