Haigerloch is a historic town located in the Zollernalbkreis district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Situated in a scenic valley along the Eyach River, the town is known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and distinctive castle built atop a rocky outcrop.
During World War II, Haigerloch gained historical significance as the location of one of Nazi Germany's nuclear research facilities, where scientists attempted to develop nuclear fission as part of the uranium project. Today, this history is preserved in the Atomkeller Museum, housed in the former underground research bunker.
The town's cultural heritage is also reflected in its traditional buildings, churches, and the remains of its Jewish community, including a restored synagogue that serves as a memorial and cultural center.
