Grimshaw is a small town located in northern Alberta, Canada, situated in the Peace River Region. Founded in 1914 as a stop along the Edmonton, Dunvegan and British Columbia Railway, the town was named after Dr. Michael Grimshaw, a pioneer doctor in the Peace River area.
The community serves as a service center for the surrounding agricultural region, where farming and oil and gas activities are primary economic drivers. While modest in size, Grimshaw has earned the nickname "Mile Zero of the Mackenzie Highway" as it marks the starting point of this important northern route that extends into Canada's Northwest Territories.
The town maintains its connection to its pioneer heritage while supporting local cultural activities through its community facilities and events.
