Gressoney-La-Trinité is a small Alpine municipality located in the Valle d'Aosta region of northwestern Italy. Situated at an elevation of approximately 1,637 meters in the Lys Valley, it is one of the three Gressoney communities that have historically been home to the Walser people, a Germanic-speaking ethnic group. The town's cultural heritage reflects a unique blend of Italian and Walser influences, particularly visible in its traditional architecture and local customs.
The area has an interesting historical connection to the Italian royal family, as Queen Margherita of Italy used to spend her summers here in the late 19th century. Today, while Gressoney-La-Trinité is primarily known as a winter sports destination, it maintains its cultural identity through various historical buildings and local traditions.
