Franzburg is a small town located in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen in the northeastern German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The town has historical significance as it was founded in 1587 by Duke Bogislaw XIII of Pomerania on the site of a former Cistercian monastery called Neuenkamp.

The monastery's secularization during the Protestant Reformation led to the establishment of the town, which was named after Duke Bogislaw's father-in-law, Duke Franz of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Today, Franzburg maintains its historical character through several preserved buildings, including parts of the former monastery complex. The town's cultural heritage is closely tied to its religious history and the architectural remnants of its monastic past, making it an interesting destination for those interested in regional history and religious architecture of Northern Germany.
