Dresden is a small community located in the municipality of Chatham-Kent in southwestern Ontario, Canada. The town has historical significance as an important terminus of the Underground Railroad in the mid-19th century, where many African Americans sought refuge from slavery in the United States.

The community was founded in the 1840s and became notable for its role in the anti-slavery movement. Dresden was also home to Josiah Henson, whose life story inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Today, Dresden maintains its connection to this important historical legacy through the Uncle Tom's Cabin Historic Site, which serves as a significant cultural landmark and educational center about the history of slavery and the Underground Railroad in Canada.
