Cuesmes is a former municipality located in the Walloon region of Belgium, now part of the city of Mons. The area has a rich industrial heritage connected to coal mining, which was a significant economic driver in the region during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The town gained historical significance as the place where Vincent van Gogh lived and worked as a preacher among the mining community from August 1879 to October 1880, during his formative years before becoming an artist.
