Conza della Campania is a town in the province of Avellino, located in the Campania region of southern Italy. The town has a rich history dating back to ancient times when it was known as Compsa, an important settlement of the Hirpini people. The modern town was rebuilt after the devastating 1980 Irpinia earthquake, which caused significant damage to the original historic center.
The archaeological park of ancient Compsa, situated on a hill overlooking the Ofanto valley, preserves remains of the Roman and medieval periods, including the foundations of the old cathedral. The new town, built in a different location after the earthquake, maintains connections to its historical heritage through its archaeological museum, which houses artifacts from various periods of the town's history.
