Chikuzen, historically one of the old provinces of Japan, was located in what is now the northern part of Fukuoka Prefecture on Kyushu island. The region has a rich cultural heritage dating back to ancient times when it served as an important center for diplomacy and trade with mainland Asia, particularly China and Korea.

The area was known for its sophisticated pottery traditions, particularly the Takatori ware that emerged in the early 17th century. Throughout its history, Chikuzen maintained significant political and cultural influence, hosting important Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines.

Today, while the province no longer exists as an administrative entity, the region's historical legacy continues to influence local arts, crafts, and cultural practices.
