Chase is a village situated in the Interior region of British Columbia, Canada, located at the outlet of Little Shuswap Lake where it flows into the South Thompson River. The community, with a population of approximately 2,500 people, has deep historical roots in both First Nations culture and railway development.
The area was traditionally home to the Secwepemc (Shuswap) First Nations people, and their cultural influence remains strong in the region today. Chase developed as a railway town in the early 1900s and was named after Whitfield Chase, who established the first homestead in the area.
The village is surrounded by natural beauty, including lakes, mountains, and forests, which has influenced its development as a regional center for outdoor recreation and cultural activities. The local economy has historically been based on forestry, agriculture, and tourism, with the area's cultural heritage reflected in various community events and artistic expressions throughout the year.
